The village, which wes first mentioned in the year 1577. The village leads in the valleys of Kořenovský and partly of Martinský brooks. Near the villages occurs the view-tower Štěpánka. Now the Kořenov is a important centre of recreation. Technical unique is the cog-whell railway from Kořenov to Horní Polubný.
